Customer's blender took me 3 hours to fix, turns out it was the lid

Spent a whole afternoon chasing a weird grinding noise in a Ninja blender, tore down the motor assembly twice before I noticed the lid gasket was half melted and rubbing on the blades. The owner said they ran it with hot soup, which I guess warped the plastic just enough to catch on the coupler. Has anyone else had a failure that had nothing to do with the actual electrical guts?
