Had a weird flicker on a 4K monitor that turned out to be a bad capacitor I couldn't see
I was fixing a Dell monitor with a random screen flicker, and all the usual checks came up clean. On a hunch, I heated the whole main board with my hot air station for about 30 seconds, set to 350 degrees, and the flicker stopped for a minute. That told me it was a thermal joint issue. I ended up reflowing every single capacitor near the power input, even the ones that looked fine, and it fixed it for good. Has anyone else had a problem that only showed up with heat?

Heat can actually reveal the real problem.

Yeah, the "melts" part is too real. It feels like heat just pushes a problem until it breaks completely. Then you're left with a bigger mess to clean up.
