Stop using compressed air to clean game console motherboards
I see people blow out crusty Xbox boards with canned air all the time on YouTube. All that does is push dust and gunk deeper into places where it will short something out later. After my third repair on a buddy's PS4 last year I switched to 99% isopropyl and a soft brush. Air only works if you already have the board fully bare and you're blowing outward. Has anyone else had a console come back worse after a customer tried this?

Oh man, I gotta disagree with you a bit here. If you hold the can upright and do short bursts at a consistent angle, canned air actually clears out loose dust before it ever gets packed down deeper. I've cleaned dozens of boards that way with zero issues, it's all about technique not just the tool.

Yeah, "technique not just the tool" is the whole game. I've had boards where canned air just pushed stuff into the fans, had to switch to a soft brush and vacuum on low. Short bursts only work if you're hitting the dust from the right side, otherwise you're just relocating it.
