Door lock contacts keep causing intermittent faults on older hydro elevators...

I keep seeing guys replace the entire door lock assembly when the real issue is just the contacts being misaligned or dirty after a few years of use. Just yesterday I spent 20 minutes cleaning and bending a set of contacts on a 1985 Dover unit, and the car ran perfectly after that. Has anybody else found a quick trick for adjusting those without pulling the whole lock?

Oh man, that brings back a memory! Had a 1990 Otis unit a few years back where I spent two hours chasing a ghost fault (turns out the door interlock was fine, but the wiring in the junction box above the cab was rubbing on a sharp edge). Cleaned contacts and taped the wires, smooth sailing ever since. It's funny how often it's just a dirt or alignment thing versus a whole lock swap.

Yeah but did you check if the lock cam has any wear on it too?
