Shoutout to the building manager in Phoenix who told me 'just tape the door open, it's fine' when the interlock was clearly shot.

Man, does that ever bring back some memories. What did you end up doing about it? I had a landlord pull the same thing with a busted deadbolt once. I just went out and bought one of those portable door alarms you wedge under the handle, the kind that screams if the door moves. It was like twenty bucks and gave me some peace of mind until they finally sent someone.

Tape the door open" is a classic. My old landlord said the same thing about a broken window lock. Real secure.
