That retirement-age tech told me to quit fighting the limit switch, he was right

He said 'stop adjusting it every call, just replace the roller and leave it alone' back in March at the old Hilton on 5th, and after three return trips on the same car, I finally listened and it's been running smooth for 8 weeks straight now, has anyone else learned the hard way that the old guys skip the tweaking on purpose?

Learned that one on a hospital job back in 2019. Same deal, kept adjusting a door operator limit switch every few weeks because the floor was settling. Old timer told me to swap the whole arm assembly and call it done. I thought he was being lazy, turned out he knew the sensor was drifting with temperature changes. Three months later I get a call for a totally different door in the same building and that first one still hadn't acted up. Now I listen when they say stop fighting it, just replace the part and walk away. The tweaking habit is hard to break though, your mileage may vary but I've seen it hold true more times than not.
