Watching old elevators get retrofits showed me where the industry's headed
I was replacing some worn parts in a building from the 80s last month. The old hydraulic system felt like a dinosaur next to the new traction units we install now. It made me think about how many buildings are skipping full replacements for smart upgrades. For example, adding destination dispatch or battery backups is becoming normal. I see less focus on just keeping things running and more on energy savings and data. It's a big shift that means we all need to get comfy with new tech. Honestly, it's exciting but also a bit of a learning curve, lol.

Totally get that. It's wild how fast everything's changing, right? The learning curve is real but kinda fun too.

Yeah, calling it a "fun" learning curve is spot on. I've found it helps to just pick one small thing to figure out each week (like, really small). That way it doesn't feel like you're drinking from a fire hose all the time.
