Fell for a fiber upgrade pitch from a sales rep and paid double for 6 months
I signed a two year contract with a regional ISP in Ohio because the sales guy swore their new fiber would save me money, but after 6 months of $180 bills I did the math and realized I was paying $40 more per month than my old cable plan for speeds I never even used - anyone else get burned by a slick upgrade offer?

Signed that same deal with a midwest ISP back in 2021 (sadly, not Ohio but still). Felt super smart when I bragged to my buddies about getting "gigabit fiber" only to realize later that I was basically paying for bragging rights while still loading YouTube videos at the same speed. My wife still brings it up every time the internet bill comes in.

Ha! Yeah I fell for the same trick with a different company... paid for "symmetrical upload speeds" and I don't think I've uploaded a single file bigger than a family photo in three years. My neighbor actually got the same pitch and now he calls his fiber bill the "monthly flex fee" because that's all it's good for.
