Pro tip: ditch the static IP blocks for BGP if you have multiple sites

Was running 3 offices in Phoenix on separate /29 blocks from 2 different providers. Nightmare for routing. Tried getting a /24 from ARIN and announcing via BGP to both ISPs. Took about 2 weeks to get the paperwork done. Latency dropped 40% and failover is instant now. Anyone else find BGP worth the extra complexity for small multi-site setups?

Nah, BGP is overkill for most small setups unless you actually need carrier-level failover. I'm with @chen.james though - if you have the patience for paperwork, it's fine.

Oh wow, that's a solid setup. I did something similar for two small offices and the failover alone was worth it. Static routes would always crap out when one link died. BGP just works. The paperwork is annoying but once it's done you never look back lol.
