The moment our primary fiber line went down at 2am

We had a contractor accidentally dig through our main fiber line near downtown last Tuesday... I was always told to trust the backup circuit but now I see why you need more than one failover. Has anyone else had a single point of failure come back to bite them?

3am outage here last month, same deal... contractor hit the only line coming into our building and the "redundant" fiber they sold us ran through the same conduit. Whole thing took 14 hours to fix.

Contractors seem to have a sixth sense for finding the exact spot where the one cable runs. Had a similar thing happen at my old apartment complex, they put in a whole new fiber line but connected it to the same junction box that was already busted. Took Comcast three different trucks and a supervisor to figure out why the "upgrade" didn't work.
