A client told me my facials felt 'too rushed' and it made me slow way down
She said I was moving through the steps like I had a timer running. I added 10 minutes to every appointment just to focus on the massage portion and my booking rate actually went up.

Too rushed" really hits home. I actually just read a study that said clients perceive a slower pace as higher value, even if the same work gets done underneath it all. It made me realize we often mistake efficiency for effectiveness in this industry. You added 10 minutes and your booking rate went up? That's proof right there that people are willing to pay for the feeling of being cared for, not just the outcome. Sometimes the best move is to just slow your hands and breathe with the client, you know? It changes the whole energy of the room.

Gotta gently push back on that study thing, @grace_hunt84. The idea that "slower is always higher value" isn't quite right. It's about perceived attention, not just speed. A rushed 30 minute session where you're stressed still feels cheap. But a slow 60 minute one where you're just going through the motions feels like a rip off too. The key is matching the pace to what the client actually needs, not just adding time for the sake of it. Your 10 extra minutes worked because you made it feel deliberate, not because you slowed down.
