My steamer decided to quit mid-facial last Thursday
I was right in the middle of a deep pore cleansing treatment for a regular client, and the thing just hissed and went cold. No warning light, nothing. It's a 3-year-old unit from a brand I trusted, but I guess everything has a lifespan. I had to quickly pivot and finish with a warm towel compress, which honestly worked fine, but it threw off my whole rhythm. The client was cool about it, but I felt super unprofessional. Now I'm looking at a $400 replacement, which hurts right after the slow season. Has anyone had a steamer fail like that, and did you find a more reliable model?

Ugh, that's the worst timing. I read a thread on a skincare forum last month where a bunch of people said their steamers just died right at the three-year mark, like some planned obsolescence thing. Might be worth checking if the brand has a repair service before you drop the full amount on a new one.

Planned obsolescence gets thrown around a lot for every gadget that breaks. My old hair dryer lasted ten years, and my mom's microwave is from the 90s. Sometimes stuff just wears out, especially with daily use and hard water buildup. It's more likely a common failure point than a secret timer.
