Heard a guy at the library say he never uses his phone's timer for laundry anymore
He said he sets a Google Calendar event for 45 minutes with a loud notification instead, because it works even if he leaves the room. Honestly, I tried it yesterday and didn't forget my wet clothes in the washer for once. What other simple app switches like this have you guys found?

That "didn't forget my wet clothes for once" line hit me right in the soul. I've ruined so many loads by letting them sit. The calendar trick is smart because it follows you. I started using my smart speaker to set timers for everything, even just reminding me to check the oven. What's your next household task you might try this on?

Yeah, the calendar trick is a lifesaver for anything time-sensitive. I'm applying it to watering plants next. I'll put a repeating event for Tuesdays and Fridays so I don't kill another fern. Smart speaker timers are good, but they don't follow you to the grocery store when you remember you're out of soil, @ivan_cooper. This way, the reminder pops up on my phone no matter where I am.
