Messed with my router settings and fixed a weird buffering issue

Last week I was watching a show on my Roku and it kept freezing every 10 minutes. My internet speed test looked fine so I figured it was the Roku itself. Then I remembered reading something about DNS servers slowing things down. I changed my router to use Google's free DNS numbers and the buffering stopped completely. Has anyone else had luck swapping out their ISP's default DNS settings?

Wow, changing DNS servers fixed a buffering issue? Feels like one of those internet myths that gets passed around more than it actually works. I've tried Google DNS before and didn't notice much difference, just placebo effect if you ask me. But hey, if it made your Roku stop freezing, maybe there's something to it even if it sounds too simple to be true.

Wait, Google DNS actually fixed your buffering? No way that made a difference.
