Bought a $60 'vegan leather' clutch that fell apart in 3 weeks

I spotted this cute beige clutch at a pop-up market in Portland and the seller swore it was quality. After wearing it maybe 5 times to brunch and errands, the lining completely ripped and the 'leather' started peeling at the edges. I should have just saved up for a real leather secondhand bag instead. Has anyone else had luck with durable clutch brands under $80?

Saw a similar post on Reddit where people said "vegan leather" is just fancy plastic that always flakes. Real leather from thrift stores holds up way better for the same price.

vegan leather" is just fancy plastic that always flakes - yeah my friend bought a "vegan leather" wallet from some Etsy shop and it started peeling like a sunburn within a month. She was so mad she just went to Goodwill and found a real leather clutch for like 12 bucks that's still going strong.
