I was wrong about organic cotton for 5 years until a dye test proved it

I always thought organic cotton was a marketing gimmick that faded faster, but after comparing two identical shirts from the same brand over 20 washes, the organic one held color way better. My friend who works in textile testing explained it's because organic fibers don't get damaged by harsh processing chemicals. Has anyone else noticed a difference in longevity with natural fabrics?

Wait til you dig into the whole organic cotton thing. I heard a podcast a few months back where some ag guy was breaking down how conventional cotton actually uses way less water per pound than people think, but the pesticides are still a real problem. The big twist is that most of the "sustainable" cotton brands are still buying from the same massive growers, just paying for a different certification. My cousin works in textiles and she was ranting about how the whole hippie hemp craze is just as bad for the environment when you factor in processing. Honestly the whole industry is so tangled up with lobbying and greenwashing that nobody's really winning.
