Question about plastic vs glass weights for brine ferments

I kept getting kahm yeast on my hot sauce ferments until I switched to those glass fermentation weights instead of the cheap plastic ones from amazon. The plastic ones had tiny grooves that trapped gunk even after boiling, anyone else notice this?

Wait, you boiled plastic weights and they still had crud?

Boiling plastic weights for 30 minutes didn't even soften the gunk, let alone loosen it. I really question if the heat method even works for this, @rivera.jesse, because all I got was a cloudy mess and still had to scrub everything off anyway. Maybe the real trick is just not letting that crud build up in the first place.
