Stopped by an IKEA showroom and noticed something about their desk setups

I was at the IKEA in Emeryville last Saturday and saw every demo desk had those cable management trays under the desks. But then I realized none of them actually showed what happens when you have a tower PC or a big power strip in that tray. Has anyone else run into that issue where the tray gets way too crowded?

I actually had a different experience with the SIGNUM tray from IKEA, I kept a full size desktop tower and a power strip in mine for two years without issues. It did take some careful cable routing but it worked fine once I stopped trying to cram everything in there at once.

Funny you mention that, I actually read a blog post from some guy who tested those ikea cable trays with a full size gaming tower. He said the tray can barely hold a power strip and a few cables before it gets cramped. Makes sense why the showrooms only show laptops or monitors. Seems like they design those trays for minimal setups, not real world clutter. I noticed the same thing at my local store in Burbank last month.
