Changed my mind about floral foam after a big wedding order

Always used the green foam blocks for everything. Did a 30 centerpiece wedding job last Saturday. Half the arrangements were in foam, half in chicken wire and moss. The foam ones looked sad by the end of the night. Flowers wilted faster, water got gross. The wire ones? Still perky. The wire lets stems drink better, I guess. My helper said the foam ones felt warm, like they were cooking the stems. Never noticed that before. Cost me about $50 in lost product. Anyone else ditch the foam for big events? What do you use instead?

What made you finally decide to switch?
