PSA: I tried a different way to tape a long ceiling seam and it was a mess
On a job in Tempe, I had a 16-foot seam on a 9-foot ceiling. Everyone says to use a lift and do it in one go, but I thought I could save time by taping it in two 8-foot sections from a regular ladder. The joint compound dried way too fast where the two sections met, leaving a huge ridge I had to sand for over an hour. I learned that on long runs, the standard advice is right for a reason. Has anyone found a good middle ground for tall ceilings when a lift isn't around?
