Hydrangea hack I was sure was gonna be total BS
I finally tried that trick where you dip the stems in boiling water for 30 seconds before arranging them, and after a whole week they still weren't droopy, so is this something you guys actually do every time or just for special orders that need to last longer?

Boiling water trick works best when the stems are already starting to wilt or you bought them a few days ago, that's when it really saves them. For fresh flowers straight from the garden or a good florist, you're right that regular cutting and clean water does the job just fine. I keep a kettle handy but only bust it out for grocery store hydrangeas that look like they've been through a war.

Ha, well I'm gonna be the odd one out here but I actually think that hack is mostly unnecessary. I've done it maybe twice when I had some particularly sad looking hydrangeas from the grocery store and yeah it woke them up, but for normal fresh flowers I just cut stems at an angle and change the water every couple days. They hold up just fine without all that boiling drama. Plus I always worry I'm gonna burn myself or melt something plastic in the process, so it feels like a lot of effort for what is usually a minor difference. If you're getting a full week out of them already then you're probably doing plenty right without the hot water step.
