I used to scoff at using floral foam for wildflower arrangements

My mentor in Seattle swore by it for keeping stems in place during transport, and after 3 failed deliveries where everything turned into a tangled mess, I finally gave it a shot. Has anyone else found a trick that changed their mind about a tool they originally hated?

Floral foam kills the environment though.

Wait, have you actually tried an alternative that works just as well, @miles825? I used to be all about floral foam too until I saw how bad it is for the planet. Switched to chicken wire and tape for arrangements, and honestly it's way more stable for heavy stems. Took a few tries to get the hang of it but now I won't go back. The only downside is you can't do those super sculptural dome shapes as easily, but the trade off is worth it for not poisoning the ground.
