My flat top grill caught fire at a festival in Austin last Saturday

I watched it happen and I am ditching the cheap cooking oil for one with a higher smoke point, has anyone else had a grease fire scare and switched brands?

Preach. Switched to avocado oil after lighting up my backyard like a bonfire last summer. Night and day difference, never going back.

Lighting up your backyard like a bonfire" - oh my GOD. That is TERRIFYING. I almost set my deck on fire last month with regular vegetable oil and it only sparked a little. I had no idea avocado oil made that much difference. You've got me rethinking my whole cooking setup now, seriously.
