Hit 100 games on my old Sega Genesis cart without a single save battery failure
Honestly, I found my Genesis in the attic last weekend and decided to fire it up. I was surprised that every single one of my 100 game carts still saved my progress, even the ones from like 1994. That really mattered to me because I used to think those batteries would die after 10 years tops. Has anyone else had good luck with old cart batteries lasting this long?

Man, that's genuinely impressive. I think there's something to be said for stuff made back then just being built tougher overall. I've got a power drill from the early 90s that still works like new, but my last one from a few years ago died after twelve months. It's like companies figured out how to make things that last, then forgot on purpose. Your Genesis carts are proof that old engineering had a different standard. Makes you wonder why we put up with stuff that dies after a few years now.
