Finally got my venting right after 6 months of fighting with it

I kept having issues with porosity in my castings for months. Talked to an old timer at the shop and he pointed out my riser placement was off. Turns out I was putting them too close to the thick sections. Moved them back about 3 inches and my last batch of pump housings came out clean with zero pinholes. Has anyone else had venting problems that turned out to be a simple change?

@rivera.simon got a point about chills being tricky, but did you also check your sand permeability? Sometimes folks blame venting when their sand is just too tight and trapping gas. I had a similar issue with a batch of manifolds and it turned out the sand muller was running too long. Simple fix once I ruled the vents out.

Buddy of mine spent a year fighting his before he realized his chills were wrong.
