Spent 3 hours chasing a porosity problem on a Monday morning
I was pouring a batch of 356 aluminum at work in Tulsa and every single casting came out with pinholes. Turned out the degassing lance I'd been using had a crack in the graphite tube letting air in the whole time. Swapped it out at 11am and the next pour was clean. Anybody else ever chase a defect for hours only to find something stupid simple?
