Woke up to a flooded laundry room on Tuesday morning

My washing machine hose split at 3am and I found about an inch of water on the floor when I went to get coffee. The water had seeped under the baseboards and into the hallway carpet too. Spent the whole day pulling up the carpet padding and running three dehumidifiers from Home Depot. Has anyone else dealt with a surprise appliance failure that turned into a bigger mess than expected?

Honestly, I gotta push back on the "surprise" part. Saying you "woke up to a flooded laundry room" kinda makes it sound like the universe just dropped this on you for no reason. But hoses don't just split at 3am if you check them once in a while. Ngl, I've seen this at my buddy's place - a dirty, cracked hose that looked like it hadn't been touched since the 90s. You probably could have caught it if you'd peeked behind the machine every six months or so, instead of waiting for it to blow.

@wadeg92 maybe your water pressure is too high. A cheap gauge could save your floor.
