Appreciation post: That client review phase that dragged on for a month

I sent the final draft and then heard NOTHING back for weeks on end. It completely stalled my workflow and pushed other projects way back. How do you cope when client communication just stops cold?

What if you asked about their approval chain during the initial project setup?

Did you have any kind of timeline or check-in plan set up in your contract before you sent the final draft? I mean, I usually try to build in a 'review by' date and say I'll send a follow-up email after one week of silence, just so the ball is officially in their court. It doesn't always stop the ghosting, but it makes me feel less stuck.

That sounds brutal, a whole month of radio silence. Did the client ever give any hint about their internal approval process before things went quiet? Sometimes the person you're talking to is stuck waiting on someone else higher up.
