Store-bought party dips are a waste of cash. My homemade hummus cost me three bucks and was the hit of the neighborhood barbecue.

Saw somewhere that dried chickpeas are way cheaper than canned for hummus.

Ever try making it with dried ones? I switched last month and soak them overnight with some baking soda. The texture gets way creamier than canned, but my blender did struggle a little with the thicker mix.

Hey @brown.victor, that baking soda trick sounds smart. How much do you use per cup of dried chickpeas? I tried soaked ones once but skipped the baking soda, and my hummus was kinda grainy. Your blender struggle makes me wonder if a food processor would handle the thick mix better, or maybe blending in stages. The creamier texture is totally worth the extra step, though.
