A cloudy finish showed me why humidity matters.
Now I always check the forecast before starting.

When I painted my deck in July, the humidity was over 80%. I used an oil based primer that dries slow. The finish came out fine with no cloudiness. I learned that my method beats watching the forecast every time. Now I just start if the wood feels dry to the touch.

Last August in Atlanta, humidity hit 85% when I was staining my porch. I did something like @kevin_lee75 and used a slow oil-based sealant before the top coat. Waiting until the wood felt completely dry, even late in the day, made all the difference. My finish stayed clear and even, no cloudiness at all.

Ever try to paint in high humidity and just make a huge mess? I did that once, it looked like I used glue instead of stain. Your dry wood trick is way smarter than my old method.
