TIL I've been mixing my shellac wrong for years

I was finishing a walnut dresser for a neighbor in Boise and the finish kept getting cloudy after about 15 minutes in the can. My buddy saw me just dumping the flakes into the alcohol and said, 'You're not letting it dissolve, you're just making mud.' He was right, I was rushing it. How long do you guys actually let your shellac sit before you start using it?

Used to just shake it up and go. Now I let it sit overnight, and the difference is actually insane.

Wait overnight? I just shake mine and it's always fine.
