Appreciation post: My old tablet got a new life with a simple trick

I had a 2017 Samsung tablet that was so slow it was almost useless. On a whim, I followed a guide to install a lightweight custom operating system called LineageOS. After about an hour of work, it now runs as fast as it did when it was new. I learned that sometimes the best upgrade is free software, not a new gadget. Has anyone else tried this with an old device and had good results?

Honestly, a 2017 tablet still running at all after that is a miracle.
