Got a $50 Bluetooth speaker off Amazon and it actually holds up better than my JBL
I grabbed this random brand called SoundBot or something back in March because my JBL Charge 4 started sounding crackly. Figured it'd be junk for the price, but after 4 months of using it in the shower and on my patio, it's still going strong. The battery lasts like 12 hours and the bass isn't muddy at all. Makes me wonder if I've been overpaying for name brands this whole time. Has anyone else found a cheap gadget that surprised you?

My JBL Charge 3 died on me after about a year and a half, and I picked up a $30 Anker speaker to get by. That thing went through three falls off a ladder onto concrete and still worked like new. I think these cheap brands are just using the same parts as the big guys now. You're probably right about overpaying for the name.

You ever notice how the cheap ones sometimes just keep going no matter what you do to them? Ive had anker speakers bounce down stairs and they barely scuff. @joel_mason22 youre right that the manufacturing has gotten good enough where the budget stuff is basically the same guts without the fancy logo. I still buy name brand headphones, but for speakers I stopped caring about the label. Its not just anker either, Ive got a soundcore that took a spill off a truck tailgate and its fine. You probably saved yourself a headache switching.
