Rant: My bathroom vent fan took 4 hours to replace because the old housing was glued in with construction adhesive.

I had to cut it out piece by piece with a multi-tool and a pry bar, and the whole thing was covered in decades of dust. Anyone have a better method for dealing with that kind of stuck-in-place old housing?

Sounds like your bathroom fan was installed by someone who never wanted it to come out. Congrats on the four hour workout.

It's the same energy as furniture that needs an allen wrench nobody owns. Or a phone case designed to shatter if you try to remove it. Modern stuff is built with zero thought for future fixes. They want you to just give up and buy a whole new unit instead. Planned frustration is a real business model now.
