Tbh, I thought those magnetic vent covers were a total gimmick until my heating bill dropped $30 last winter.
My buddy in Denver swore by them for years, but I finally tried them on the three vents behind my couch and TV stand. Honestly, the difference in room temp was immediate and my furnace stopped cycling on every ten minutes. Anyone have a good method for figuring out which vents to actually block without messing up the system?

Wow, I was totally in the same boat thinking they were pointless. My old house had these huge vents in the empty bedrooms just pumping heat for no reason. I closed a few off and it felt warmer everywhere else almost right away. How do you even know which ones to close without causing problems?

Yeah @jenkins.wade, that "warmer everywhere else" thing is such a common fix people miss. It's like we're trained to just accept how things are instead of making small changes.

Jenkins.wade is right about closing vents in empty rooms. Kelly_miller80, the trick is to never close more than 20% of them or you can strain the blower.
