Got a traffic ticket in Denver and tried two ways to deal with it

Last month, I got a speeding ticket and decided to just pay the $180 fine online. My friend got a similar ticket and went to the free legal clinic at the courthouse first. They helped him fill out a form to ask for a lower fine, and he ended up paying $90. The clinic gave him the right form and told him what to say, which made all the difference. Has anyone else found that a quick legal check-in saves more money than just paying up front?

Yeah, it's free and it's wild how many people don't know about stuff like that. I see this all the time where a little bit of asking around or looking up the official process saves a ton of hassle and cash. It's like there's always a hidden step or form nobody tells you about unless you ask. Makes you wonder what else we're all just overpaying for because we take the first option.
