Shoutout to my uncle for telling me to get everything in writing

Honestly, I was helping a friend move last month and he promised me $200 for the day. I just took his word for it. My uncle, who's a paralegal, told me to text him to confirm the amount and the date. I did, and my friend tried to pay me only $100 later, saying he forgot the deal. I showed him the text and he paid the full amount right away. Has anyone else had a simple text message save them from a bigger problem?

What about bigger stuff like apartment repairs or work hours? A text trail can be a lifesaver.

Yeah, I read a story about a guy who got his whole security deposit back because he had texts showing he reported a leak months before he moved out. The landlord tried to blame him for the water damage.
