Remembering the old rock shop in Sedona that closed down

I was cleaning out a box in my garage last week and found a small piece of banded jasper I bought there maybe three years ago. The place was this tiny, dusty storefront off the main road, run by an older couple who knew the story behind every single specimen. I went back last month on a trip and saw it's now a fancy candle shop. It got me thinking about how a lot of those small, personal rock shops are just gone now, replaced by generic tourist spots. The owners would always chat about where a piece was found, like this jasper came from a specific claim near Jerome. Now you mostly just see the same polished stuff from who knows where, with a price tag and no story. Has anyone else noticed their local rock shops disappearing over the last few years?

Ugh, saw an article about that exact trend.

The article said it's happening in over 40 states, @william407. That's just wild to me.
