Honestly thought my professor was wrong about color palettes
He insisted I limit my branding project to 3 colors, which felt impossible. After my 4-color draft looked messy, I tried his way and the final design was way cleaner. Anyone else have a teacher give you advice that seemed wrong but worked?

Did you try using tints and shades of those three colors for more depth?

Wait, he only let you use THREE colors? For a whole branding project? That sounds crazy to me, like trying to make a whole meal with just salt and pepper. I tried a 3-color logo once and it felt so empty, like something you'd see on a boring government form. But I guess if your 4-color draft got messy, maybe the limit forces you to be more clever with shades and layout. Still, only three feels super strict.
