That one time our guest lounge turned into a total ghost town for a whole afternoon
It was a Tuesday in early March, and the usual lunch crowd just never showed up. I was covering the front desk and watched the clock tick from noon to 3 PM without a single person walking in. The weird part was, the weather was fine and the coffee was fresh. Turned out a big conference across town had a last-minute schedule change and kept everyone captive. It was so quiet you could hear the ice machine cycle on every 20 minutes. Ever have a day where your space just felt completely abandoned for no clear reason?

The ice machine thing is so real. I was at a library once that was dead empty on a Saturday. The only sound was this one flickering fluorescent light over the history section. It had this low buzz and would cut out for like two seconds every minute. After an hour it felt like that light and I were the only things left in the building, lmao. That kind of quiet gets under your skin.

Wait, you stayed for a whole HOUR with that light going nuts? That's some serious dedication... I would have been out of there in like five minutes. That buzzing sound does something to your brain after a while, makes you feel like you're going crazy. I can't believe you just sat there and let it become your weird flickering friend.
