A client from Chicago asked for a cut I saw on a show three years ago

Last week, a new client brought in a photo from a show that was big in 2021, wanting the exact shaggy bob. I had to explain that the cut she loved was styled for camera lighting and wouldn't lay right with her fine hair. We ended up doing a softer version with more layers, and she was way happier. Has anyone else had to talk a client down from a TV haircut that just wouldn't work in real life?

Oh man, I used to just try and copy the picture exactly. Learned the hard way that what looks good on a screen needs a real life adjustment. You did the right thing.

Honestly, it's such a common trap to fall into. Tbh screens lie all the time about colors and scale. Ngl I ruined a whole wall once going for a perfect match from a Pinterest photo. Real life lighting just hits different.

Ever think about how much we trust screens over our own eyes? I've started taking a picture of the paint chip in the store lighting before I buy... it still never looks the same at home. The whole process feels like a guessing game now.
