A regular at my old shop in Tacoma told me to always check the hairline before a big cut, and it saved me from a huge mistake.

Tacoma is a rough place to learn that lesson. Checking the hairline should be taught on day one of barber school. A receding hairline can completely change where you put the fade.

But is it really that big of a deal? I've seen guys with pretty wild hairlines still get a decent cut. A good barber can just work with what's there, right? It's not like a receding hairline is some secret only pros know about. Most guys just want it short on the sides and it usually turns out fine.
