Found a strange medal in my great-uncle's stuff, and now I'm stuck on its origin
It was in a tin box with some old coins. The design looks foreign, maybe from a war. No one in the family knows where he got it. I've checked online databases but hit a wall. This kind of thing makes you wonder what secrets are buried at home.

Ever check his old military records? Might be from a conflict we weren't officially in. Stuff like that rarely has a simple answer.

Yeah, those proxy wars and black ops from the Cold War era come to mind. Like guys getting sent to Laos or Cambodia with zero paper trail. Their official file might just say "training exercise" while the real story gets buried. Makes digging for answers a nightmare, idk, maybe the records were designed to be a mess.
