A homeowner's chuckle almost had me ditching my safety goggles
Now I wear them regardless after seeing dust fly.

My buddy nearly lost an eye last summer fixing his deck. A tiny metal shard flew off a rusty nail he was prying out and hit him right in the safety glasses. Left a deep scratch in the lens. He said his heart stopped because he almost didn't put them on for that "two second job". Now he treats those glasses like his own skin, never takes them off in the shop. Really shows you it only takes one split second.

Read a scary story online about a DIYer who messed up his eyes for good by skipping goggles. Just a simple sanding job, but the dust flew up and scratched his eye. That kind of injury hurts a lot and can lead to bad infections. Now I always check my goggles are secure before turning on any tool. It shows how one dumb choice can ruin your sight. Stories like that make safety gear feel non-negotiable.
