After years of doing spring aeration because everyone said to, I tried fall instead and now I'm convinced it's better for most lawns.

Oh that's so true! Everyone misses how fall rain patterns help way more than spring. Those little holes actually fill in instead of just drying out and getting dusty. Plus, all the summer weeds are dying back, so grass seeds have room to grow without fighting for space. It just gives your lawn a quiet head start before winter sleep.

Yeah, fall seeding fixed my patchy spots for good.
