Found my old Game Boy Color in a box of college stuff

I was cleaning out my closet last weekend and pulled out a plastic bin from my old dorm room. Under a pile of notebooks was my teal Game Boy Color with Pokemon Gold still in it. The batteries were dead, but after a quick trip to the store, it booted right up. My save file from 2002 was still there, with my level 70 Feraligatr. The screen is so dim compared to what we have now, but playing it just flooded me with memories of trading with friends at lunch. Anyone else have an old handheld that still works and holds a save after all this time?

He's been a farrier for 40 years and told me point blank, 'Casey, you'll get a harder edge with water, just move it fast.' Every book and forum post said to use oil for 5160 to avoid cracks. I tried it his way on a camp knife blank last fall, heating it to a bright orange and then plunging it straight into a 5 gallon bucket. The sound was a sharp hiss, not the quiet sizzle of oil. I was sure I'd hear a ping and find a crack, but it came out fine. The file skated right off the edge. I tempered it back and it's held up through a whole season of processing kindling. It made me question a lot of the 'always do this' rules you read online. Has anyone else had a trusted old timer give you advice that went against the grain but worked out?

Tried using a heat gun to pop a dent out of a table leg and it actually worked

Had this old oak table leg with a deep dent from a hammer, and my boss said to just fill it. I put a wet rag over the spot and hit it with my heat gun on low for about two minutes, and the wood swelled back up almost flush. Is this a legit fix or will it cause problems later, like cracking the finish?

Putting out orange halves brought a flash of color I wasn't expecting

I started leaving orange halves on a platform feeder a couple weeks ago, and now orioles are showing up every morning. I mean, idk if it's the right time of year or what, but they're totally new to my yard. Maybe it's just me, but should I swap the oranges for something else once they're gone? I don't want to scare them off.
