I tried to make air fryer donuts and it went so wrong

Last night I tried a recipe for glazed donuts using canned biscuit dough. I put them in at 350 degrees, but I guess I overcrowded the basket. They all stuck together into one giant, weird donut blob. My roommate walked in and just said, 'What is that thing?' I had to pry it apart with a fork. Anyone have tips for spacing stuff out so it doesn't become a monster?

Honestly that giant donut blob sounds like a win to me. My cousin in Ohio makes them on purpose, calls it a "donut cake". You just frost the whole thing and slice it like a pie. The real problem is using canned dough, that stuff never works right. You should try making the dough from scratch, it's way better even if it sticks together. Crowding the basket just gives you more donut to eat at once.

Totally agree about canned dough, it always fries up weird and tastes like chemicals. Your cousin's donut cake idea is actually genius for parties, just one big glazed centerpiece. I've tried from scratch and yeah, the dough is stickier but the flavor is so much better, like real bakery donuts. Crowding the pan might look like a mistake but it's just efficient, you get maximum donut with minimum frying time. Next time I'm just pouring all my dough into one ring mold and calling it a cake too.
