Shoutout to the frozen french fry bag that made me change my whole method
I used to just dump frozen fries straight into the basket and set it for 20 minutes, but they'd always come out uneven. Last month, I saw a tip on a cooking blog to soak them in hot water for 10 minutes first, then dry them really well. Now I do that, toss them with a spoon of oil and some salt, and cook them at 380 for 15 minutes, shaking halfway. They get so much crispier on the outside and stay soft inside. Has anyone else tried a soak trick with other frozen foods in the air fryer?

That "weird icy sogginess" you mentioned is the exact problem. I see this everywhere now, like with frozen hash browns. We accept a worse result because we think "it's just frozen food." But a small extra step, like thawing or drying, can make cheap stuff taste way better. It's about not settling for the default setting.

That soak trick is a total game changer. I started doing it with frozen potato wedges and the difference is insane, they get that perfect pub-style skin. Also works for frozen zucchini fries to get rid of that weird icy sogginess.
