Just realized those $300 'premium' torque wrenches are a total waste of money for most of us.
I bought a fancy digital one last year thinking it would be a game-changer for my GA work, but it's just slower and more fragile than my old clicker. I've already spent another $150 on a calibration check and a new battery pack after it got fussy. Has anyone else found that simpler tools just get the job done better on the line?

You're totally right! My shop bought a set of those digital torque wrenches for the team. They spent more time arguing with the display or needing a charge than actually turning bolts. My old beam-style wrench from my grandpa is ugly and simple, but it never lies and it's never dead when I need it. Sometimes the extra tech just gets in the way of the work.

But come on, is it really that big of a deal? A dead battery is just a minor hassle, not a work stoppage. You plug it in for a bit and grab another tool while it charges. The digital ones are way faster for production work with their lights and beeps. That beam style is slow to read and a pain in tight spots.
