Switched my mind on composite decking after a summer of splinters

I was all about pressure treated wood for decks until my kids got 12 splinters each last July. Finally tried Trex on a job near Red Deer and the lack of maintenance sold me. Anyone else switch materials after a specific job went bad?

Man splinters are the worst! I had a similar thing with a deck in Calgary, the kids were pulling out slivers for weeks. Trex is pricey but I'll never go back to wood. It's just not worth the hassle.

Man splinters are a special kind of nightmare, @robert64, because they seem to find their way deeper into your hand no matter how careful you are with tweezers. Calgary's dry climate probably made that wood extra brittle and splintery too, so it's no surprise you made the switch. Trex might be a chunk of change upfront, but your fingers and that bag of ice will thank you later.
